slow and painstakingly, I've written 3035 - over 2000+ of which was written today. still missing a few scenes, so I guess it'll cap out at 4000 or slightly higher. noticed when I was brushing my teeth that I could do something else experimental with this thing, because the original thing that I'd planned... was not working out the way I wanted it to. kind of nervous about this piece as a whole, which is probably a consequence of it being an experimental fic.
focusing more on 'show don't tell', which I think I do decently at the moment - journalism has taught me some things! - but want to do better at. also trying to revive my love for run-on sentences, but striking a balance between the old and the new has been a challenge.
I'm literally varying everything I can think of - sentence structure, scene lengths, scene events, universes/tropes, description styles - so I'm actually... very much out of my depth with this fic because I've always aimed for consistency and balance with my writing... (so much so that I counted the number of instances a character got POV in WNIOH, or how long each snippet in bits and pieces was...)
I noticed that I tend to write similar scene events at the same time so the fic essentially went from one heavy scene to four soft ones before jumping back to three heavy ones...... orz I've organised a proper outline for the fic now though, so the scenes should probably spread out much more evenly now (yeah, no matter how experimental I get, I still need the balance... ok journalist student in me speaks again)
... but apparently this challenge is exactly what my muse wanted, so I'm just like :| okay...
I sat in a cafe for three hours today, and it cooperated with me for the most part, though I did have to fight a lot with words to find the specific nuance I was looking for. english nuance is so stiff imo, or maybe my vocabulary has been shrinking...
