Writing something self-indulgent is the way to go!! The writer is always the #1 reader to satisfy, and you should always write something /you/ want to read :Db I mean, look at me and Nekoma Blues: "The amnesia trope is so overused and cliche and [insert synonyms] but OH WELL I'm gonna write it anyway because everybody needs to write a terrible trope once in their lifetime." 1/2 is technically a trope fic too. Depth and complexity can't be forced, otherwise the work will end up like those movies that try to be deep but...aren't. I'd rather read something simpler but enjoyable in that case lol
