>> september 23, a decade in hindsight
Sep. 24th, 2017 11:02 pmyesterday marked ten years of writing fic for me! I actually thought it was on the 21st, but turns out it was the 23rd, orz can you believe I've spent almost half my life in fandom??? I've grown a lot and my style of writing has morphed and evolved over the last ten years. maybe I should do a compilation of how my writing has progressed from my first fic, published 23 september 2007?
...that isn't too bad an idea, tbh.
.....................it's a terrible idea. I'm utterly mortified at my own writing.
this post is image-heavy under the cut and contains lots of spoilers of my own fics, across a wide variety of fandoms and ships (including one unpublished work!).

I intentionally picked snippets from what I deem as my 'better works' (pfft) but as you can tell, my writing has grown exponentially over the past year, in no small part due to the fact that this is the longest I've ever been active in fandom, and been a regular writer nonetheless.
my writing used to be in fits and bursts in the past, and the streak would have continued if I hadn't gotten into haikyuu. but because I've set up a regular writing schedule of sorts (*snorts* except there's school) this year, I've seen my writing develop much faster. it's definitely a result of saso as well, because I wrote a lot and experimented a lot, and my style evolved together with it. the only problem (?) right now is that I have too much to write, too many things to do, not enough time, and - I don't really know how my style looks like any more because of how quickly it's developed. I'll need to start writing regularly again soon to get back into the groove and check out how things have changed, but for now it's quite a struggle for me.
I think it's safe to say that more than just being for fandom, writing's become a part of my life, and I'm really, really excited to see where I'll be going from here.
this morning I woke up thinking: if one day I were to print an anthology of my fics like what Ritz has done, that would really be a dream come true. only a handful of my rl friends know that I write, imagine if I could tell them that "I've got a book published" LOL. but beyond the "wow" of it, I printed the ennonoya fic out the other day (to edit it with pen and paper and I tore it apart so much better than I could on the google doc), and there was this incredibly surreal feeling, like woah, I'm holding my own hard work, my own writing in my hands. I'd love to print out all my other fics, and all my favourite writers' fics, tbh. but printing costs money and I only have $25 of printing credits. orz
I was thinking of a short story collection, actually, because if the kuroyaku anthology becomes a thing, I'll still have a ton of other fics I really like that aren't gonna make it to print. they're mainly short stories, and I write short stories and drabblefics best. longfics have never been my forte, even though I'm improving at writing them.
...well, I'll keep the idea in mind for now. I've considered original writing, but I don't think that's a feasible thing for me right now (and I also have never been much for original writing sans narrative compositions in school) so that's definitely on the back burner. an anthology of my own works would be something for me to work towards.
wait, that also means I have to finish the whole of Timeless and publish it separately, right? orz

I may do this too, though it's still a year away till my 15th year of writing lol
